Stevedoring

Transport operation, handling of loading or unloading of goods between the ship and the quay

Stevedore

also written aconier Manutentionnaire, or stevedore, is an entrepreneur responsible for stevedoring, that is to say the handling of goods (loading and arrival on board a merchant ship or unloading).

Shipping agent

Mandated by the shipowner for a commercial mission. He negotiates freight, coordinates embarkation and disembarkation.

Shipowner

Person who finances the boat, fuel, goods (owner or not).

Consignee

Appointed by the shipowner, he assists the captain. The consignee takes care of administrative and port formalities, receives the goods upon embarkation and delivers them upon disembarkation.

Authorized customs broker

Any natural or legal person, carrying out customs formalities for others concerning the detailed declaration of goods.

Unloading

Action of unloading a container.

Container stuffing

Operation of loading goods into a container

Representative

Receiver of goods or brings the goods back to the ship

NVOCC

A maritime transport intermediary that does not own a ship of its own but acts like a shipowner (it rents space on the ship belonging to real shipowners).

RO/RO

Roll on, Roll off Combined transport technique allowing a road vehicle to board a ship specially designed for this type of freight.

Forwarding agent

He is the transport agent, organizes the transport from end to end.
